Healing with Fungi: Unique Aesthetic Expressions for Mycelium-based Materials through Patch and Mend

Full program

Subject of presentation

Designing with novel biomaterials such as mycelium-based materials has become popular as we move towards a Bio revolution. However, this presentation is an explorative study that taps into a relatively unexplored potential of fungi in bio-design, namely, “to heal” living and non-living mycelium-based materials. Through patching and mending, our material-driven explorations demonstrate unique aesthetic expressions in the healed mycelium-based samples toward the revival of daily repair practices.
